About UnitedSewa
Built by the diaspora, for the diaspora.
UnitedSewa started from a simple observation: the US Nepalese community had no single, trustworthy home. News was scattered across Facebook groups. Classifieds lived in WhatsApp threads. Events disappeared in Messenger. Important questions got lost in the noise.
So we built this — a place where everything that matters to Nepalese in America converges, held to an editorial standard you can actually trust.
- Free, forever
- Community-led
- Honest, by design
News Platform
Synthesizing Nepal & diaspora news for the US — one story at a time.
We don’t aggregate or auto-republish. We read 10+ Nepal-based outlets, compare what they say, surface what they disagree on, and write one honest briefing per story.
Every post passes a strict publish gate: machine checks against every cited source, senior review for sensitive stories, and one editorial question — would a Nepalese friend in the US actually want to read this? If not, we don’t run it. We’d rather publish nothing this week than publish noise.
And every briefing makes the diaspora angle explicit — what does this mean for Nepalese abroad, your family back home, the remittance you’re sending, the visa you’re worrying about.
Classifieds Platform
Rooms, jobs, vehicles, services — built for the Nepalese network in the US.
Most US classifieds sites don’t know our community. Craigslist won’t help you find a Nepali-speaking landlord in Chicago. Facebook Marketplace doesn’t surface the Newari catering for your sister’s wedding.
UnitedSewa Classifieds is the niche board built for what the big platforms miss — listings posted by Nepalese, for Nepalese, organized into the categories the diaspora actually searches.
Posting is free for the community. Every listing gets its contact info verified before going live.
Community Forums
The conversations we couldn’t have on Facebook.
The diaspora WhatsApp groups are great for breaking news, terrible for searchable answers. UnitedSewa Forums is structured discussion — threads that stay findable months later.
Organized into the topics that actually come up: Nepal Embassy paperwork, immigration cases (TPS / F1 / F2 / H1B), remittances, fundraisers, and a general forum for everything else.
Every thread is visible without signup. Posting requires a free account so we can keep the trust level high. Moderators are diaspora volunteers, not contractors.
Events Platform
Tihar, Dashain, concerts, diaspora meetups — all in one place.
Nepalese events in the US are scattered across Facebook groups, WhatsApp threads, and city-specific Eventbrite pages. UnitedSewa Events is the one place to find them all.
Searchable by city, date, or category, organized for the diaspora’s actual rhythm: festival cycles, music tours, fundraising drives, community meetings.
Posting is free. Verified organizers get a community-trusted badge, and events get cross-promoted to the relevant city forums.
Honest, by design.
Six commitments shape every line of code and every story we publish.
Multi-source, sources shown
Every news briefing is synthesized from cited sources with uncertainty labeled; sensitive stories get senior review before publish; anything uncertain is held, not published. No black-box “trust us” content.
A strict editorial gate
We publish a small handful of stories a week and pass on hundreds more. The bar: would you actually send this to a Nepalese friend? If not, it doesn’t run.
Sensitive stories get senior review
Anything involving caste, religion, sexual assault, communal tension, or harm to minors goes through a separate review path. We default to caution.
Public corrections
When we get something wrong, the post shows the correction inline with a timestamp. We don’t quietly edit history.
Free forever for the community
UnitedSewa runs on donated time and a small infrastructure budget. We may eventually accept community donations or run minimal, disclosed ads — never paid placement.
Diaspora-first, always
Every briefing makes the diaspora angle explicit. Every classified, forum, and event is built around what US Nepalese actually need — not what’s trending in Kathmandu.
Help us build this.
Built by Nepalese, for Nepalese. Three ways to make it better — pick the one that fits.
Read & share
Every briefing forwarded to a friend helps us prove this is worth doing. The fastest way to support is to share what’s useful.

Corrections, story tips, missing sources, broken links — every message gets read. We’d rather hear it from you than from Google.
