How we compare money-transfer services

Our public rules for comparing ways to send money from the United States to Nepal — useful today, whether or not a provider ever pays us.

Compare the same transfer

Same amount, funding method, recipient method and timing — then compare the disclosed recipient total.

Check current providers
Quote-only recipient amountPayment-neutral provider order

Method reviewed: July 14, 2026. Provider corridor links are checked separately and carry the same review date below.

The short version

We compare the cost and fit of a specific transfer, not a provider’s marketing headline. If we do not have a fresh, comparable provider quote, we do not publish a calculated “amount received,” a cheapest claim or a best-provider ranking. We send you to the provider to check the current quote.

01

Start with the person’s real transfer

A useful answer changes when any of these inputs changes.

Amount

The exact USD amount being sent. A result for one amount is not presented as true for another.

First or recurring

First-transfer promotions are separated from the ordinary recurring cost. A temporary offer never defines long-term value.

Funding method

Bank account, debit card and other available methods can produce different fees or timing, so they are compared like for like.

Recipient method

Bank deposit, cash pickup or wallet availability is checked for the recipient’s actual need, when a provider offers it.

Timing

Urgent and non-urgent transfers are different decisions. We use the provider’s current estimate, not a general promise.

02

What a comparable quote must show

All quote facts must come from the provider for the same inputs and be captured at a visible time.

  • Sender total: the amount the sender will actually pay.
  • Transfer fee: the fee the provider discloses for those inputs.
  • Provider exchange rate: the rate attached to that provider quote.
  • Recipient amount: the NPR total shown by the provider, never calculated from the NRB reference rate.
  • Delivery estimate: the provider’s estimate for the selected funding and recipient methods.
  • Quote time: when the quote was captured and when it should be treated as stale.
03

The fail-closed rules

No estimate is better than a plausible but wrong money claim.

NRB is a reference, not a provider quote.

The Nepal Rastra Bank rate can provide market context. It cannot tell us a provider’s fee, exchange rate or recipient total.

No fresh quote, no recipient total.

When comparable data is missing or stale, we show stable service facts and a “check current quote” link instead.

No universal “best.”

Different funding, delivery and timing needs can produce different outcomes. A ranking is shown only for explicit inputs and fresh comparable evidence.

Promotions stay separate.

A first-transfer offer is labeled as temporary and never silently mixed into the recurring comparison.

Commercial relationships do not change the method

A provider can be included without paying UnitedSewa. If a marked link can earn a commission, it will say so beside the link; if a placement is sponsored, it will be labeled as sponsored. Payment never changes route eligibility, source facts, comparison inputs or ranking.

04

Current provider-route evidence

Inclusion means we found a current official U.S.-to-Nepal route. It is not an endorsement and it is not a claim that the list is exhaustive.

Educational comparison only, not financial advice. Confirm the final exchange rate, fee, recipient amount, delivery estimate, eligibility and terms on the provider’s site before sending money.
